How to Make “Oversensitivity” Work for You

img_0024

Someone asked recently, “How do you make your sensitivity work for you? When I think/feel into my own sensitivity, the first thing that comes to mind is “oversensitivity,” to my trigger points, to when things catch me “off-guard” so-to-speak.

Like most everyone else (I’m presuming), it is very difficult for me to not react to my emotional triggers. So…how to make my sensitivity work for me when I get triggered becomes an important question.

My initial reaction to emotional triggers in the past would put me into a shell, into moods for hours, if not days. I would feel angry, hurt, get moody/broody, etc.

Here’s what I do now: I do not discount what I feel, or try to push it away, or get philosophical about it…in fact I allow myself an initial inner reaction, like, “#$#L$ M_F!!…for a few minutes…but then I also include “Thank You, thank you, thank you!” even though I don’t feel genuine gratitude at the moment…but I know the gratitude does and will come.

Here’s what I do: I always keep a blank sheet journal with me with a supply of pens and color pencils. I also have my music.

I CREATE, CREATE, CREATE! DANCE, DANCE, DANCE! If need be, CRY, CRY, CRY!
I know that very delicate thoughts, sensations, insights come to me after I purge out the energy of what triggered me! Exquisitely sublime feelings!

That is where Gratitude comes in…and after a large purge, the sensation of Gratitude feels like…LOVE!

I seek to connect with those who, like me, feel they have been “charged” to hold and ground the Bliss Resonance for Mother Earth. We Are Meant to Dance! Part 2

IMG_0375

Went to last night’s Ecstatic Dance, something I’ve not been able to do regularly of late. I realized how much I miss it, how important dance has been in helping me to connect with the very fine Bliss Resonance that I speak so often of in my blog posts.

In dance, it is easy to connect with the waves of “feel good” juices in the body. Now, something interesting: I notice that certain types of sounds and their overtones can be tracked to very deep places in the body, especially in the areas of the spine. Physical vibration that can be felt in finer and finer subtlety. For me (and it might be different for others), certain sounds of the voice, flute, didgeridoo, violin and sitar especially have a way of vibrating the innermost areas of the spine.

This morning, as I listen to the bamboo flute as played by Steve Gorn in his piece “At Ease,” it is easy to follow the vibration of the sounds into the spine, where the build-up of the Bliss Resonance then happens of itself. The natural movement of the body is a kind of contortion of the spine, a squeezing sensation that moves bliss through the body.

It just requires an initial recognition of what is activating, nudging us to move in resonance with the music. Have you ever wondered why most young people (perhaps not all), loves to dance? Of course there might be the obvious wanting to meet potential mates. Music, sex, dance…it all gets mixed into the cauldron of our primal urges/desires.

By tuning into that very fine, activating nudge/desire that moves us to dance or have sex, therein lies the conscious connection with the Bliss Resonance. When you make that visceral, conscious connection, everything changes…

Dominant/Non-dominant Writing/Journaling

BruceManakaArt5

I like the feel of pen in hand, flowing upon a blank sheet of paper wire bound in my journal. I write, draw, doodle, play with words and forms everyday, not so much with intention to create pieces of art, books, blog posts, etc., but rather as a way to move energy in my body/mind.

For me, the purpose of journaling revolves around the connecting with, feeling, luxuriating in the creative life force in the body, experienced as a feeling of wholeness, bliss. The “mechanics” of writing, drawing is just a way to get energy moving…and what gets expressed on paper is a two dimensional representation of a multidimensional inner experience.

My approach to journaling is this: I use pen and ink so there is less likelihood that I would want to erase or edit what has been laid down on the paper. The contrast of black ink on paper seems to also evoke a sense of starkness and simplicity, which has a way of feeding my sensibilities.

I usually begin by writing out a simple question/invocation: “Dear Higher Self, what realms can I explore today?” I write this out with my right (dominant) hand. I then quickly change pen to my non-dominant left hand and write my response, without editing or judging what is expressed. At a certain point, when I feel it is the “right” time to do so, I’ll switch back to my right hand and begin drawing or doodling…again not editing or judging.

During this process I pay particular attention to the overall sensations of the body and whatever thoughts, feelings and emotions come up…without judging. For me, the main benefit that I find in doing this is in getting to that delicate balance point of fine awareness of the Bliss vibration in the spine. The process of writing and drawing then becomes less important, as the mind and body are vibrating in resonance with the wide ocean of the creative field.

This process can be experienced while typing at the computer, but for me the tactile feeling of pen and paper make it easier for me to feel deeply within myself.

Creativity – Getting Into Flow

The following post is in response to a question I received in my last post regarding my creative process.

DSCF0583

Whether drawing, writing, playing music, dancing, etc., one of the most important aspects of my creative process is in “just starting,” in the sense of getting energy moving, getting past the hump of any inertia that may be present. During this stage especially, I do not judge or edit, I just create, move energy until I sink into a familiar state of flow. I’ve learned to recognize the “feeling” of flow: a state of being/feeling connected with the underlying Bliss. It’s a kind of bodily vibration/hum that naturally draws the attention within… because it feels good.

DSCF0579
My drawings have evolved. At first, I really did not know how to draw… I just allowed myself to be relaxed and to not worry about form, structure, right/wrong, etc. I enjoy the flow of pen on paper, without judging what comes through.
I usually start a drawing without a plan, immersing myself in the process of getting into flow and the bodily state of trance. It feels blissful to be in a state of creativity and flow. Whatever shows up on paper I get a sense later on of whether or not I’d like to publicly share.

The themes that come to me are usually archetypes and energies that “feel” like they open energetic connections within. It then becomes an exploration of feelings and vibrations. Whenever I draw or write, I feel like I’m “playing” with the sheerest, most subtle vibrations that move wave-like through the bodily field.
Every drawing then becomes a kind of doorway for me that allows intimations of extremely fine vibratory realms.

I just start drawing, moving pen over paper. Much of my art will have the same symbols (lines, circles, spirals, faces, etc.), but each art piece represents to me a kind of inner resonance of Being.
Thanks again Scott!

The Spirit of Creativity

Image

I write and draw everyday, not out of discipline or because I feel that I “have to,” but because it simply feels really good to do so…and to me it doesn’t matter if what I express on any particular day is meaningful to me or not. I create from an inner urge, a prime directive that nudges my energy to move and express through the field of the Higher Self’s body/mind/heart consciousness.

When I allow the creative force to move through an opened heart space, a certain momentum builds up to allow the flow and feeling of inspiration. There is then very little effort required…more like relaxing or surrendering into the flow and resonance of a vast and powerful river.

The Spirit of Creativity is like a divine song playing through the field of consciousness that moves us to vibrate energetically to its emanations. We then cannot help but dance to the joy that wells up from within and to create from the depths of inspiration that we have been gifted with. There is a divine simplicity to all of this: tuning into creativity is a matter of allowing ourselves to just be…in the fullness of all that we are, the dark as well as the light. Any perceived difficulty in doing this is in our resistance to deep feelings.

Image

Creative inspiration is very much connected with the Bliss Vibration that can be experienced when we open ourselves to the fine nuances of feelings. Because of its innately ecstatic sensation, it doesn’t take much to keep the attention upon its vibration. In the beginning, the only challenge is in recognizing its initial presence and in making a visceral connection with its subtle radiance in the bodily field, especially in the spine. There are many avenues to its experience in the body: dance, meditation, art, music, fasting, etc. The simple secret is in learning to track the sensations to finer and finer subtlety. Certain postures and micromovements can help immensely in building the energetic magnet of the Blissful Resonance. In this matter, there are no “secret” postures or breathing techniques. It is a matter of deeply feeling into any posture that one decides upon and tuning into the finest sensations that naturally arise.

In cultivating this energy there can be tendencies in the beginning to violently contort the body, as it may not as yet be accustomed to the high voltage moving through it. During such times, gentleness is a good thing to remember so as not to injure or exhaust oneself. With experience we learn the upper limits of what our bodies are energetically capable of and also come to understand the many ways of dancing with these energies without “boiling” over. We learn to cultivate and to build up immense reserves of energy that can then be used for healing as well as for creative work.

Creative Work – Tapping into the Field

I get some of my most creative work done while sitting at a local coffee shop with a cup of organic Peruvian blend and a croissant. There’s something about the ambiance…the aromas, music in the background, the quiet coming and going of people…it’s like white noise that helps to bring out the muse. There just seems to be a lot of energy in the air that I can tap into.

On the other hand, trying to do creative work in a library does not work for me. I start to feel a little closed in, perhaps by the walls of books that seem to loom over my shoulders, reminding me of teachers in my younger days that shushed me for being too noisy.

Ah, but give me a journal and pen and plop me down in a funky little coffee shop, and I can spend many happy hours immersed in the creative ocean. It is quite satisfying and seems to activate certain bodily energies that want to express on paper. It is a wonderful antidote for moods and opens up the energetic field that allows Love’s vibration to flow unimpeded.

When connected to the current of creativity, there is no impediment to what you can dream and create. In the flow of these energies, the problems and concerns of 3d existence are felt dispassionately, with little commitment of emotional energy. In the deeper states of immersion with the blissful vibrations, the mind and body assumes certain postures and focus of mind. You become all feeling and Being, following the most subtle threads of Bliss energy to its Source.

Your work is to follow and pay attention to the energetic cues as they move in the Field of Consciousness. It is most delectable, most sublime, a vastly different perspective of awareness than what is offered by the linear, logical mind.

Create everyday! Not just from the intellect, but from the subtle vibrations of a heart that is connected with the Divine flow of what moves within. It is not difficult! Just breathe and feel! Release and allow the child of the heart to dance in the field of wonderment that surrounds and enfolds us at all times! If there is any heaviness or dark mood, allow yourselves to feel the “structure” or “geometry” of any tightness or pain associated with it in the body and then give deep permission to move and breathe, dance and tone in ways that helps to “evolve” your relationship with it.

Creativity – Holding the Vision of What You Want

Hold the vision of what you want and feel the energy of its creation. Understand that what is felt with powerful focus will be created. This is the Law. Breathe in Beauty! Bask and luxuriate in the blissful resonance of the energetic field being created within and all around. With intention and focus, vibrate your vision into the realm of creation. Draw, write, sing and dance all beautiful dreams into manifestation! You are so close! Understand that what you have sought for lifetimes is already with you. It is just a matter of opening up to the gifts that have been yours since the beginning.

The energy is strong and creativity flows easily and smoothly whilst relaxing into the blissful field. Love is calling you to plumb the depths. Observe, relax and release! The “You” of name and human form will be experienced dispassionately as a wave of Spirit, connected with the Cosmic Ocean. Each breath will then be a constant reminder, an eternal pulsation of the Infinite Connection. Breathe deeply and feel! It will be as though you have awakened from a deep sleep and all things will seem different and yet familiar.

Spirit is awakening and expressing through the body. It is spreading its wings of light through every nerve and cell. That energy is blissful, overwhelmingly powerful as it moves wave after wave through the body. Allow it to dance and express. Bask in the delectable moment that is Infinite Beauty and Joy! And then go deeper still. This is your work! Take care of your responsibilities, but understand that your main focus and work is with Spirit. Expansion of the heart will then happen naturally as you relax and allow the powerful Spirit to move within.

Beauty is unfolding and spreading its wings of light. Receive that you have the power and understanding to manage the ebb and flow of its Divine Song!
