Dance of Micromovements, Elixir of Bliss Part IV

When feeling into the subtle waves of sensations, going deeper into the overall resonance of feelings, the natural reaction of the body is to adjust to the buildup of energy. By the simple focusing upon sensations in the body, the energy seems to grow/expand, which then requires the body to accommodate the expansion of energies.

The adjustment that happens can be a stretching out of the spine, a shift in posture, yawning, shaking, etc. If there is an intention to keep the body still (as in meditation), the buildup of energy will adjust the body through “micromovements,” very slow adjustments that allows for relaxed posture.

If the attention is not so focused, it can be easy to miss the movement of life force in the body…and either fall asleep or lose oneself in distractions. It really isn’t difficult to focus on the subtlety of sensations…it just requires a willingness and intention to feel into the nuances of vibration, to replace old habits of how we relate to our sense of Being, how we relate to our Life Force.

The important point to get to in this exploration of “Life Force” is when you begin to notice the subtle buildup of energy, when it gets to a certain level. it creates a particular feeling/sensation that, in the beginning might feel like “giddiness.”

Just beneath this “giddiness,” if you allow yourselves to tune into (and follow) what is underneath this feeling, you might find an undercurrent of what I describe as “sweetness,” that has a most delicious and enchanting affect. It puts the body/mind/psyche into what feels like a “swoon.”

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part VII

What is this feeling of “falling into a swoon” especially in relation to connecting with the subtlety of life force? An example of what happens when listening to and feeling  into music that touches us deeply can be useful here. I think most can relate to the experience of “losing” or “surrendering” oneself completely to music or dance. There can be a release of emotions and physical tensions, as well as a release of “thinking.”

If you “get” on a visceral level this feeling of “falling into a swoon” there is an opening here that can be explored. When listening and feeling into music that touches you deeply, notice how the body naturally “wants” to move and sway to its rhythm. However, it is during this period that, instead of getting up to dance or to move in larger ways, to gently hold back and to move in “micromovements” as a way to focus upon and build up the energies in the central core of the body.

Focus upon and feel into the very fine sensations that are activating the body to move and sway. Tune into the most subtle vibrations and experience the mind/body go into trance as it begins to feel the delicate waves and pulsations of Bliss.

The consciousness that apprehends these fine vibrations understands it to be the “Pearl of Great Price!” It is the essence of all sensations felt as One Resonance…and that essence is felt as a fine thread of vibrations connected with a most delicious and delicate sensation of sweetness, deep in the central core of what seems to be the spine.

This sweetness creates an energetic uplift of energy in the body, especially in the spine, holding the body/mind/psyche as though electrified…and the mind and thought processes are as though locked in place by the energetic current, which allows the “Observer” aspect of consciousness to experience little gaps of “no-thought,” the Divine Moment!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part VI

Noticing, being mindful of the overall sensation/vibration of the body requires an attentiveness to the moment. Mindfulness of the moment creates a stoppage (even if only for a split second) of the “normal” current of the mind that flows subconsciously or unconsciously in its familiar, habitual patterns of thinking/feeling/sensing.

This “split second” of “no-thought” can be enough to create an opening for the body/mind/psyche to experience the underlying vibration, or “Hum of consciousness.” This need not be a “big wow!” kind of experience, but rather a simple awareness that comes with an acknowledgment of vibrations and sensations that are just underneath what you might normally pay attention to.

At this stage of noticing, it is helpful to understand that there are no insignificant sensations, as any vibration felt can be used as an entry point to the “next” underlying vibration.

At a certain point of noticing and following sensations, there can be a sense of falling into a swoon (an ecstatic trance), as the body/mind seems to hold and be held by the subtle vibration it has connected with. This process is like listening to music so beautiful that it “hurts,” or like being ecstatically absorbed and surrendered in dance!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part V

What is meant by “feeling into, connecting with subtle vibration?” It can be a simple “tuning into” the overall vibration or sensation of the body. This requires an initial sitting still and being attentive to what is felt in the body, in the moment.

For many, including longtime meditators, for lack of feeling deeply and not following sensations that are so easily accessible, they cut themselves off from the ecstatically blissful currents that permeate the subtle realms!

What happens, I believe (and this was true for myself), is that the relationship with our sense of being, with emotions, feelings, etc., over the long stretch of daily life, defaults to the patterns and habits of thinking and feeling that we’ve grown accustomed to and familiar with.

And because of the familiarity and “daily-ness” of life (and meditations), it may not dawn upon us to even consider the sensations/vibrations that are subtle and just below the vibrations of what we are familiar with.

I would dare say that anyone of you who are reading these words, in this very moment, can access very fine, subtle sensations in the body…sensations that you normally would not give any serious attention to. However, for the sake of exploration and for all the new discoveries that can ensue, try this…feeling into subtle sensation and then following the sensations deeper and deeper.

Here is what usually happens: the mind (or sense of “I-ness”) resists, wanting to stay in its range of what is familiar. It may even argue: “I already know how to feel deeply, what’s the big deal? What is the benefit? Why should I do this? I already know how to meditate.” With this kind of resistance, the “exploration” does not go very deep, as the mind short-circuits any effort to even begin.

The mind also gets in the way in the sense of the ideals, expectations and preconceived notions that it has around concepts of spirituality, enlightenment, kundalini awakening, etc.

All too often, the mind/ego expects a kind of “Big Bang! Big Wow!” experience in the realms of “awakening” and “enlightenment.” These expectations and preconceived notions have a way of dampening the heart’s natural sensitivity to fine vibrations.

It just requires a simple feeling into the overall sensations of the body and tuning into what is just below the surface of what we might consider to be our “normal” sensitivity. It need not be very deep at first… just deep enough for the awareness to connect with an overall sensation that is just below what we are usually accustomed to. This is not difficult to do.

Note: In this beginning phase of feeling into subtlety, it is important to not analyze or judge the sensation or experience. Just notice and acknowledge that you DO have the ability to connect/feel into subtlety! The next step is to continue going deeper and following vibration from one point of subtlety to the next.

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part IV

One of the purposes of “Accessing Your Higher Self” blog site is to share helpful ways to shift the relationship we have with “life force/energy” (our sense of self) to a much deeper and more expansive one that connects us with the subtleties of our Divine gifts…gifts we are meant to express and share with the world.

What does it mean to “connect with the subtleties of our Divine gifts?” It is a process of feeling deeper and deeper into the overall sensation/resonance of Being, allowing the mind to be absorbed into what feels like an underlying hum/vibration.

The intention to feel deeper and deeper into the “underlying hum” is a distilling of sensation to the finest, most subtle essence of Being.

As the awareness attunes itself deeper and deeper with this subtle “Hum,” the body/mind/psyche inevitably goes into a kind of swoon/contortion of overflowing energies, ecstatically blissful by nature.

This “overflowing” of energy happens as a result of mind that, as it “touches” or experiences subtle vibration, an expansion of mind and energy happens simultaneously, creating a “contortion” of the physical body.

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part III

Again, there is no difficulty in connecting with the blissful life force, the subtle underlying Hum of Creation! If there is any difficulty, it is in the mind’s resistance to simply consider sensations and state of being that are not in the realm of the day-to-day, habitual patterns of thinking and feeling.

It is just a matter of feeling and following sensations to their point of subtlety in the body. This automatically draws the mind deeply within. The ego (familiar sense of self) may, in the beginning, wonder “Why am I doing this? What’s the big deal in following sensations to their point of subtlety? I have better things to do!” Or, the mind may object that connecting with the Bliss Resonance is only for the superhuman saints.

Getting past the resistance to “just start” is perhaps the greatest challenge though. The only other important part of connecting with the subtle currents of life force is in the noticing the small, incremental shifts in awareness and consciousness that occur while feeling deeply within. Note, the shifts happen very quickly.

By learning to notice small shifts in awareness, it sets different patterns and habits of mind to go deeper and deeper into the subtlety of sensations…and by tuning into subtlety, the awareness of the wider, underlying life force can be experienced as an expansive reverberation of oceanic Bliss!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part II

With just a little bit of introspection, we can observe in our lives how easily it is for the mind to be “captured” by distractions of habits, thought patterns, addictions, anger, moodiness, desires, likes/dislikes, etc.

Conversely, habits of mind also makes it easy for us to go through our day-to-day activities…and it can even make difficult tasks easy to do. The power of the mind to create patterns and habits that benefit our lives is a great positive in our lives.

In our day-to-day life, our “normal,” default existence is governed by habit patterns (both helpful and detrimental) formed over a lifetime. As for the detrimental patterns, it is easy to feel helpless in the face of what may seem like uncontrollable forces at work, keeping us enslaved to the very habits/patterns that we ourselves created, allowing the powers of mind to create the very patterns/habits that we now decry.

Is there a way to understand and utilize these powers in ways that are more in alignment with our Higher Selves? Understand that underneath the activity/movement of mind there is an underlying vibration/hum out of which arises the mind. This vibration can be felt as a sensation that draws the mind’s attention deeply within. This sensation, when followed to its point of subtlety in the spine, also connects the awareness with what feels like a vast resonance that surrounds the energetic field of the body, the very life force of creation.

There is no difficulty in experiencing the subtlety of life force. Sometimes it is just a mere lack of considering or acknowledging the sensitivity that we already have. We’ve grown comfortable with the patterns and habits of our default existence and do not consider that there are infinite subtleties and nuances that can be easily felt/experienced…if only we allowed ourselves to do so!

By simply noticing and following the overall sensations of the body to their point of subtlety, we begin to feel an underlying vibration that naturally draws the mind/attention deeply within…and by its very nature is blissful.

It is this “Hum” of Creation, the Bliss Resonance that can hold the mind in the “vice-grip” of rapture, in the energetic contortion that is created in the body.
