Contortions of the Bliss Resonance, Part II

If you’re not feeling the depths of meditation (and of Kundalini) that you would like access to, latch onto the inner, subtle sensations that can easily be felt in the area just between the shoulder blades. Feel into and focus there on the overall sensation, even if it is the mildest of vibrations….as small as a “mustard seed.”

As you tune into that area, notice how the simple act of listening and feeling draws the mind/attention inwards, creating a relaxed inner focus. With this inner focus comes a widening of awareness, which may include the underlying overall vibration, the “Hum of Creation.”

It is important to acknowledge this inner shift of mind, acknowledging your ability to track and follow very fine subtleties of inner sensations. It is the very gentle and fine “feel good” feeling that is just beneath the overall sensation that is what you want to latch onto. This “feel good” feeling can be the subtlest of feelings, but by the very act of focusing on it, it expands…and this is when you will experience the blissful nectar-like quality of this vibration.

Surrendering to the “Contortion” of Life Force

IMG_0042

Take up, surrender to the contortion of Life Force as it moves through the body, as it holds the mind and body in blissful swoon…the squeezing contortion of the body pushes the life force up the spine to the crown area. The body/mind/psyche is then “held,” focused one-pointedly in the contortion.

Notice all that is in the moment, into the overall resonance of the body, all sensations combined that creates the underlying vibration of your Being.

Take a deep breath, exhale, relax and melt/surrender. Observe the mind, how it, like a butterfly, flits here and there.

Tune into the underlying subtle, giddy feeling that is like a delicate squeezing sensation that can be felt deeply within the spine, the central core of your experience of Being.

Following these subtle sensations is just a matter of listening and feeling deeply to the subtle vibrations, the underlying hum/reverberations that are easily felt when we allow ourselves to feel and to track the echoes/reverberations of what we feel.

As you give yourself to feel into what flows within, you may inevitably find the body moving delicately in resonance with how the flow of life force…taking up certain postures and adjusting in micro movements…like in an exquisitely slow dance.

Wave upon wave, delicate/subtle beyond words…it can only be felt/intuited with a most delicate apprehension, like enjoying the fragrance of the rose brought in by a gentle breeze!

Kundalini “Pattern Disrupt”

IMG_0041

The mind seems to always seek engagement…seeking to be occupied with desires, distractions, temptations, memories, etc. Over time it creates habits of likes and dislikes that then create the patterns of our lives that become the default day-to-day existence.

In losing ourselves to set patterns of mind that we’ve created over a lifetime, it is easy to get swept along in life guided only by habits of what is familiar. Meanwhile, there is an undercurrent of primal forces hidden deep within that remain, for the most part, dormant.

For those who consciously seek to connect with this subterranean “Hum of Creation,” they may find that their bodies can serve as an exquisitely fine “antennae” for tuning into the infinitely subtle vibrations that move through the energetic “field” of their experience.

The body that is tuned to this sublime resonance is “held” as though electrified (or contorted) by the current that flows through the energetic field.

This contortion of the body/mind/psyche serves as a “pattern disrupt” for the mind normally caught in habitual patterns of thinking. The individual is offered a vastly wider perspective and experience of subtle vibrations.

Kundalini Hum of Creation, Part II

IMG_0039

What is meant by the “Hum of Creation?”

As you continue your approach of tuning into finer and more subtle sensations within, you will begin to experience vibrations/sensations that are vastly different from those that you have been familiar with and “taken for granted.” In other words, because we have not allowed ourselves to feel deeply and to follow the trail of sensations to their very Source, we’ve cut ourselves off from subtle vibratory realms that have always been available to us.

The approach and idea is simple: focus upon and follow sensations to their point of subtlety. And what sensation do we follow? The overall resonance of all that we feel in the moment. You might notice that with this approach the “overall resonance” of feelings resolves to an awareness of its center point…a very subtle bubbling up sensation in the spine, or central core of the body.

There may also be an extremely fine awareness of a background/underground vibration/sensation/rumbling/resonance/radiance that seems to serve as a kind of support strata or “screen” upon which our experience of subtlety bubbles up from.

This background screen can be apprehended by the ego (our sense of self), but there is also a sense (intuited) of the wider “Observer” that is impersonal.

The little self seems to play on the surface of the wider, more expansive, unlimited “Self.”

The background resonance, when tuned into begins to “bleed” through into our familiar day-to-day awareness, and its subtle (but powerful) vibration affects the body/mind/psyche by an intense infusion of energy.

The body/mind/psyche goes into a swoon/contortion…along with an awareness of the “Impersonal Observer.”

Kundalini Dance of Subtlety, Part III

The following is in response to a number of individuals who have shared with me their terrifying (and yet positively transformative) experiences with Kundalini awakening. Although I use the term “Kundalini awakening,” I do not ascribe any particular religious philosophy or practice to the term. It’s just a way for me to label an experience that is deeply mystifying, wild, crazy, primal, terrifying, mind-shattering, ego-dissolving…and yet ultimately sacred and blissful!

Kundalini Awakening

When we get “cracked” wide open through Kundalini awakening, our sensitivities to subtle realms become heightened to not only angelically beautiful dimensions, but sometimes also to demonically horrid ones as well.

I see it as a kind of “rite-of-passage,” a teaching device that helps us learn to navigate all realms, the heavenly as well as hellish ones. In my experience, I believe no amount of preparation, spiritual practices, calling on angelic protectors, etc., was able to adequately prepare me for entry into those realms. Of course prayers and preparation can be of great help, but I now believe that the bulk of learning happens only while moving through those dimensions…a “sink-or-swim” proposition!

My learning: GRACE! For me, three days prior to my crown opening experience, it was a period of extreme terror, the very last night being the most scary! Everything that I had “thought” I knew previously about protecting myself spiritually and psychically …and that worked fairly well for me in the past, seemed to be “taken away.” In other words, it was as if I could not access (or even remember) my protectors, guides, prayers, etc.

What got me through the nights came unbidden by me: my animal protector, the lion. I remember growling, snapping, roaring for a very long time! Ultimately, my Guides came through, again all unbidden by me, as at that point I did not have the wherewithal to call for help!

When the crown opened up, the entity attacks ceased. They could not bother me. I stayed there for the next 24 hours or so. I’m still integrating the experience and will continue doing so for perhaps the rest of my life!

Going through suffering, dark night of the soul, etc., seems to be all part of the experience…part of our “initiation.” At least that was what was communicated to me. And I’m not sure there was any guarantee of physical survival…

At some point in the process (as I was being put back together), the “I” in me asked, “Where were you (Mother)? Why did you leave me in such a bad place/state?” The answer came as a torrent/download of Love/Bliss (as well as with these words): “We were all there with you during your suffering, but would not interrupt your initiation. When your tears flowed freely not only for yourself but for the condition of the world, did your suffering stop. Your initiation was complete!”

For those who are going through this “mind-shattering/ego-dissolving” process, Perhaps it might be helpful to think of it as a kind of initiation, one that will ultimately transform/recreate you into the powerful and loving Being that you are in essence!

Mother Kundalini

Mother Kundalini

I think that it’s kind of ironic that, for me, Kundalini did not activate for me until having dropped my strong attachments to meditation techniques, as well as leaving an ashram that I lived as a monk for 19 years.

For me, releasing the strong “matrix” of spiritual community and “group think” created an inner feeling of “free-fall,” having nothing to stand on, or hold onto…which then offered me intimations of primal and chaotic sensations/energies moving through my body and psyche.

A few years after having left the ashram, I began singing, vocalizing in very unusual ways: throat singing (similar to Mongolian and Tibetan styles). Singing in this way came very quickly and easily for me. The subtleties of vocal overtones helped me to disconnect my thinking and any stories that would normally go round and round in my head (sadness, grief, etc.)

So many layers of density, of sadness and grief have had to be released/purged in the intervening years (since 2001). Kundalini, in the form of the Mother came to me in 2009. I felt/thought that she was extremely shy. She turned to me three times, without saying anything, beckoning me to follow her into my spine. I intuited immediately and felt her as Kundalini.

I’m glad that there is a mental concept/philosophy such as Kundalini. Otherwise, I might think that I was going a little (or maybe a lot) crazy. It gives my mind something to “chew” on in the sense that my mind seems to go ‘round and ‘round if it cannot make sense of something.

Kundalini, to me, is so far out there, wild, crazy, primal, maddening, blissful, that the mind seems to be right on the borderline of sanity and insanity! I now feel quite safe with Her in the sense of having learned to navigate very strange mental/physical/emotional/spiritual landscapes of Being. It still feels though like being in a world where veils are getting thinner and thinner.

With the onset of Kundalini there has also been times of simply ENDURING…during certain times when no amount of meditation, positive thinking, calling for help seems to ease physical/mental/spiritual suffering. Perhaps it does, but my meaning here is that there seems to be times when we get so “ground to dust” that we don’t have the wherewithal or even the memory to call for help, or shore ourselves up.

This is where Grace seems to come through. And this is my belief: that Kundalini comes with Grace. As blissful and ecstatic as Kundalini can be, it seems to also have a way of grounding us to dust, taking away all props, forcing us to our knees so-to-speak. At least that’s been my experience.

When it had been so, so dark, when I had forgotten myself and how to call for help, this is where Grace had stepped in, like the tiniest sliver of light (my lifeline) in a universe of darkness.

Kundalini, it all seems to be one large Cosmic Dance. Beautiful at times, grotesque at times…but a dance all the same, where we are being asked to let Her lead!

Kundalini Dance of Subtlety, Part I

DSCF0564

The “fireworks” of the “Kundalini Awakening” experience, of incredible euphoria, intense kriyas (autonomic/spontaneous body movements), overwhelming sense of the breakdown/dissolution of ego along with all its accompanying pains and fears, etc., seems to—understandably–get more notice and interest in any discussion about Kundalini.

However, I can imagine that many of you may have also experienced the subtleties of Her sublime “dance” in our bodies and psyches…the exquisite micro-movements of the divine current!

The fireworks of Kundalini euphoria are amazing/wonderful when She wishes to dance wildly in our bodies, but I would venture to say that in Her subtlety, Her presence is just as powerful, if not more so…delicious reverberations that draws the awareness deeply within…echoing on and on!

Mind, body, breath, bliss…it all balances delicately as on the tip of a needle! The body then has an innate knowing of how to maintain and expand the current of Kundalini. It feels like liquid light, nectar that can be pushed, pulled, squeezed through the spine, body and limbs.

And of course, the connection can be lost for awhile through the million distractions that vie for our attention through the day. But just as easily as it can be lost, the connection can be resumed again. It is just behind all sensations. It’s just a matter of allowing ourselves to feel and acknowledge Her presence in subtlety!
