Dance of Micromovements, Elixir of Bliss Part III

When feeling into subtlety, there are no insignificant sensations. Whatever feeling you focus upon can be used as an entryway to deeper and deeper levels of nuanced awareness. Choose any sensation…tingling in the hands or feet, giddiness in the pit of the stomach, pain in the shoulders, sensations of the incoming and outgoing breath, etc.

The idea here is to focus inwardly on the overall sensation of whatever you tune into. This can also be done with emotions: anger, sadness, loneliness, etc. With any emotion there is a corresponding sensation/vibration that can be tracked in the body.

As you focus on sensations, at some point you may find an expansion of awareness that includes an underlying vibration (like a hum or buzzing) that, in the beginning, is relaxing and somewhat hypnotic.

It is at this stage that the mind and thought processes are settling down and you may experience short periods of detached noticing, as well as periods of “no-thought.” When done with deep focus, this is by no means a “ho-hum” or boring experience, but rather one that imparts a sense of enchantment and even exaltation.

Dance of Micromovements, Elixir of Bliss Part I

The delicate sensations of sweetness, as felt deeply in the spine, can be gently “grabbed” or “embraced.” It is just a matter of surrendering ourselves to the delicate waves and pulsations that move rhythmically through our bodies. The process is similar to “losing” oneself in dance, a dance of “micromovements.”

In the dance of micromovements, there is an inner allowing/surrendering to the body’s natural knowing of how to move in resonance with the subtle currents that can fairly easily be felt in the spine. There is an intuitive knowing of how to create “energetic locks” in the body that “holds” life force and allows the buildup of what is like an “elixir of bliss” in the spine. This elixir can be thought of as a distillation of essence that builds up to the point of overflow.

The overflow of this elixir creates an upliftment of body/mind/psyche…a sense of enchantment with All Things!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part VI

Noticing, being mindful of the overall sensation/vibration of the body requires an attentiveness to the moment. Mindfulness of the moment creates a stoppage (even if only for a split second) of the “normal” current of the mind that flows subconsciously or unconsciously in its familiar, habitual patterns of thinking/feeling/sensing.

This “split second” of “no-thought” can be enough to create an opening for the body/mind/psyche to experience the underlying vibration, or “Hum of consciousness.” This need not be a “big wow!” kind of experience, but rather a simple awareness that comes with an acknowledgment of vibrations and sensations that are just underneath what you might normally pay attention to.

At this stage of noticing, it is helpful to understand that there are no insignificant sensations, as any vibration felt can be used as an entry point to the “next” underlying vibration.

At a certain point of noticing and following sensations, there can be a sense of falling into a swoon (an ecstatic trance), as the body/mind seems to hold and be held by the subtle vibration it has connected with. This process is like listening to music so beautiful that it “hurts,” or like being ecstatically absorbed and surrendered in dance!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part V

What is meant by “feeling into, connecting with subtle vibration?” It can be a simple “tuning into” the overall vibration or sensation of the body. This requires an initial sitting still and being attentive to what is felt in the body, in the moment.

For many, including longtime meditators, for lack of feeling deeply and not following sensations that are so easily accessible, they cut themselves off from the ecstatically blissful currents that permeate the subtle realms!

What happens, I believe (and this was true for myself), is that the relationship with our sense of being, with emotions, feelings, etc., over the long stretch of daily life, defaults to the patterns and habits of thinking and feeling that we’ve grown accustomed to and familiar with.

And because of the familiarity and “daily-ness” of life (and meditations), it may not dawn upon us to even consider the sensations/vibrations that are subtle and just below the vibrations of what we are familiar with.

I would dare say that anyone of you who are reading these words, in this very moment, can access very fine, subtle sensations in the body…sensations that you normally would not give any serious attention to. However, for the sake of exploration and for all the new discoveries that can ensue, try this…feeling into subtle sensation and then following the sensations deeper and deeper.

Here is what usually happens: the mind (or sense of “I-ness”) resists, wanting to stay in its range of what is familiar. It may even argue: “I already know how to feel deeply, what’s the big deal? What is the benefit? Why should I do this? I already know how to meditate.” With this kind of resistance, the “exploration” does not go very deep, as the mind short-circuits any effort to even begin.

The mind also gets in the way in the sense of the ideals, expectations and preconceived notions that it has around concepts of spirituality, enlightenment, kundalini awakening, etc.

All too often, the mind/ego expects a kind of “Big Bang! Big Wow!” experience in the realms of “awakening” and “enlightenment.” These expectations and preconceived notions have a way of dampening the heart’s natural sensitivity to fine vibrations.

It just requires a simple feeling into the overall sensations of the body and tuning into what is just below the surface of what we might consider to be our “normal” sensitivity. It need not be very deep at first… just deep enough for the awareness to connect with an overall sensation that is just below what we are usually accustomed to. This is not difficult to do.

Note: In this beginning phase of feeling into subtlety, it is important to not analyze or judge the sensation or experience. Just notice and acknowledge that you DO have the ability to connect/feel into subtlety! The next step is to continue going deeper and following vibration from one point of subtlety to the next.

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part III

Again, there is no difficulty in connecting with the blissful life force, the subtle underlying Hum of Creation! If there is any difficulty, it is in the mind’s resistance to simply consider sensations and state of being that are not in the realm of the day-to-day, habitual patterns of thinking and feeling.

It is just a matter of feeling and following sensations to their point of subtlety in the body. This automatically draws the mind deeply within. The ego (familiar sense of self) may, in the beginning, wonder “Why am I doing this? What’s the big deal in following sensations to their point of subtlety? I have better things to do!” Or, the mind may object that connecting with the Bliss Resonance is only for the superhuman saints.

Getting past the resistance to “just start” is perhaps the greatest challenge though. The only other important part of connecting with the subtle currents of life force is in the noticing the small, incremental shifts in awareness and consciousness that occur while feeling deeply within. Note, the shifts happen very quickly.

By learning to notice small shifts in awareness, it sets different patterns and habits of mind to go deeper and deeper into the subtlety of sensations…and by tuning into subtlety, the awareness of the wider, underlying life force can be experienced as an expansive reverberation of oceanic Bliss!

Kundalini Hum of Creation, Part V

Do you get the meaning of what is meant in the sentiment of listening to music “so beautiful that it hurts?” That puts you into a swoon? Entranced, dissolved in tears?

There is an invitation that is offered in this kind of music to the deepest places of inspiration. All that is required is an openness to listen to and feel for the subtleties of the music that has “captured” your heart.

As you feel and dissolve into the music, you may find wave after wave of delicious sensations rolling through the body…and especially the spine! There is then a natural, primal movement of the energy (life force) that creates a kind of “contortion” of the body that is an overflowing of bliss. The experience can be on the spectrum of gentle to orgasmic.

The play of this energy is very much like dance…an ecstatic dance and play with the atoms/molecules of finest waves of the underlying Bliss Resonance, the Source of what entrances and puts you in the swoon through the music you listen to.

It’s just a matter of following the sensations of inspiration that are created by the music to its deepest Source, the “Hum of Creation!”

Kundalini Hum of Creation, Part I

IMG_1084

Lock into the underlying “Hum” of Creation, of Life Force. As you notice the very fine/subtle sensations, you will begin to experience the body as a contortion of energy, both moving and with potential to move. The mind then goes deeply into an interiorized trance, a meditation on the Life Force, the Current of Bliss!

As you feel and tune into the underlying vibration/hum that is at the root/foundation of awareness, the body contorts…and the mind/consciousness is then cognizant of both surface distractions and “goings ons” as well as with the deeper, “subterranean” echoes and reverberations, the sublime “Hum” of Creation.

Such fine/subtle sensations, bubbles of vibrations and sensations of coolness, warmth, subtleties of the incoming and outgoing breath. You can explore to infinite depths the incoming and outgoing breath!
