When Kundalini Awakens, Part VI

Perhaps some may be able to relate to this: once in awhile there can be a certain giddiness of the body that seems to cause it to move restlessly: tapping of the feet or fingers, fidgeting, inability to sit still, etc…and usually this all happens outside the range of our normal awareness. We don’t pay attention, or consider the subtle dynamics of how energy moves through the body. In other words, we don’t tune into or follow to its source the activating vibration of restlessness.

However, when we allow ourselves to feel into the sensations of giddiness, to focus upon and “hold” to its primal vibration/sensation, a vast and ethereal world of emanations/pulsations opens up to us.

This simple “practice” has a way of dropping the mind into meditative trance…as the mind that engages with subtle sensations is easily absorbed by fine currents which impart sensations very different from the norm.

This play of subtlety then becomes a delicate dance that absorbs the consciousness in finer and finer waves of sensations…and it is this “absorption” of the mind that has a way of shifting the consciousness up and out of what may feel overbearing, dense, dark, constricting (such as sadness, depression, etc.).

Feeling into subtle sensations has a way of uplifting the consciousness very quickly because tuning into subtlety creates a finer resonance of being, one that “uplifts.” This is a visceral experience, as the body begins to vibrate in resonance with the mind that is attuned to the fine currents moving through the spine.

When Kundalini Awakens, Part V

Developing sensitivity and attunement with finer and finer sensations seems to be a natural direction that Kundalini takes in the energetic field of the body when She first awakens. It is not difficult to feel these fine/subtle coiling and spiraling sensations. There seems to only be a small mental hurdle of allowing the mind to focus long enough on the overall sensation/vibration of the body.

This overall sensation might be felt as an underlying “Hum,” very subtle at first. It just takes tuning into it until a feeling of giddiness begins to build up in the body, oftentimes localized in what seems to be the spine.

 This feeling of “giddiness,” however slight or subtle, is significant…not to be dismissed. The sensation can be an entry point to a deeper and deeper play of finer, ethereal vibrations.

Giddiness, in relation to Kundalini seems to be a buildup of energy in the spine that, when focused upon guides the body to move and posture itself in ways that allows the energy to flow and overflow to other areas of the body.

This “play” of giddiness can be likened to a dance…a push/pull/play with Life Force flowing through the body that requires a surrendering to the dance…allowing Her to lead!

Medicine Song, Dance of Life Force in the Body, Part VI

When feeling into the overall sensation of the body, notice the corresponding shifts in awareness, however subtle. For example, when sitting (as in meditation pose), while experiencing the overall vibration/sensation of the body, it is important to also notice the very slight shifts in consciousness as the mind begins to tune into the finer movements of energy deep within the body.

By noticing the very slight shifts in consciousness, as the awareness latches onto finer and finer currents of sensations, it gives a reference point for knowing how to go deeper and deeper into the subtle reverberations of the life force.

This “reference point” of the simple “noticing/acknowledging” of feeling into what is just beneath any sensation (giddiness for example) provides an entry point for the mind to go deeper into subtle vibration. Any sensation, then, can serve as an invitation for the mind to follow and grab hold of the finer and finer threads of vibrations that then lead to deeper and deeper states of meditative trance.

Medicine Song, Dance of Life Force in the Body, Part V

So many layers/dimensions of sensations! “Music of the Spheres” seems to best describe (at least for me) the infinite complexities/subtleties of the Divine Dance in our bodies.

Feel into the flow of the underlying “Hum” of the body, of which the body, Earth, Cosmos seems to percolate up from, expressing as finest rays, like ethereal violin strings vibrating Cosmic music, sometimes beautiful and sometimes wild/chaotic!

When feeling into the subtle overall sensations of the body, the mind is drawn deeply into the central core of what feels like the area of the physical spine…and the awareness of these delicate sensations have a way of moving/expanding the energy/life force…that then creates a kind of “ants in the pants,” giddy feeling pulsing/dancing through the body… contorting, shaking, teeth clenching, etc…all a delicious dance of what is released from the central core of the body!

Tuning into, following the “giddy feeling” that builds up in the body allows the mind to latch onto, focus upon the more subtle waves of sensations that move deeply in the energetic field of the spine. Please note that I use the term “giddy feelings” because that is a feeling that most people can relate to…it is familiar. I also want to convey here that this particular feeling can be an entry-point to connect with the finer and more delicate sensations of what vibrates side-by-side and just underneath the denser and more familiar giddy feeling. Those feelings/sensations are not as familiar…

Dance of Micromovements, Elixir of Bliss Part IV

When feeling into the subtle waves of sensations, going deeper into the overall resonance of feelings, the natural reaction of the body is to adjust to the buildup of energy. By the simple focusing upon sensations in the body, the energy seems to grow/expand, which then requires the body to accommodate the expansion of energies.

The adjustment that happens can be a stretching out of the spine, a shift in posture, yawning, shaking, etc. If there is an intention to keep the body still (as in meditation), the buildup of energy will adjust the body through “micromovements,” very slow adjustments that allows for relaxed posture.

If the attention is not so focused, it can be easy to miss the movement of life force in the body…and either fall asleep or lose oneself in distractions. It really isn’t difficult to focus on the subtlety of sensations…it just requires a willingness and intention to feel into the nuances of vibration, to replace old habits of how we relate to our sense of Being, how we relate to our Life Force.

The important point to get to in this exploration of “Life Force” is when you begin to notice the subtle buildup of energy, when it gets to a certain level. it creates a particular feeling/sensation that, in the beginning might feel like “giddiness.”

Just beneath this “giddiness,” if you allow yourselves to tune into (and follow) what is underneath this feeling, you might find an undercurrent of what I describe as “sweetness,” that has a most delicious and enchanting affect. It puts the body/mind/psyche into what feels like a “swoon.”
