Dance of Micromovements, Elixir of Bliss Part II

It is easy enough to feel, while sitting still, the underlying vibration of the body. At the same time, because this vibration is so familiar to us, we may not be inclined to explore deeper into the subtlety that is just below the surface…because of the mind’s natural inclination to remain in the default habitual patterns of what it has grown used to.

The mind is easily hemmed in by the day-to-day, familiar patterns and so it may put up resistance to, or not consider the possibilities of exploring the subtle sensations that can be apprehended as delicate waves and eddies of fine vibrations…like a deep underground hum.

Feel deeply into the core of the overall sensation felt in the body. Breathe into it, observe, be with that very fine, subtle “humming” sensation. You may find that the body naturally adjusts in fine micromovements as a way for it to accommodate the flow of what moves through…and what moves through is felt as a coiling, pulsating radiation, so very subtle and sometimes “thread-like.”

What is meant here is that when connecting, feeling into subtle sensations, the body has a way of “squeezing” the energy, whether in the spine or elsewhere. This squeezing, combined with the feelings of coiling energies creates the experience of exquisitely fine/thin strands of energies that feel “thread-like”…and like a fly-fisherman/woman casting his/her lines out into the lake/river, these vibratory strands can be cast far out into the wide energetic space surrounding the body!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part VII

IMG_0044

What is this feeling of “falling into a swoon” especially in relation to connecting with the subtlety of life force? An example of what happens when listening to and feeling  into music that touches us deeply can be useful here. I think most can relate to the experience of “losing” or “surrendering” oneself completely to music or dance. There can be a release of emotions and physical tensions, as well as a release of “thinking.”

If you “get” on a visceral level this feeling of “falling into a swoon” there is an opening here that can be explored. When listening and feeling into music that touches you deeply, notice how the body naturally “wants” to move and sway to its rhythm. However, it is during this period that, instead of getting up to dance or to move in larger ways, to gently hold back and to move in “micromovements” as a way to focus upon and build up the energies in the central core of the body.

Focus upon and feel into the very fine sensations that are activating the body to move and sway. Tune into the most subtle vibrations and experience the mind/body go into trance as it begins to feel the delicate waves and pulsations of Bliss.

The consciousness that apprehends these fine vibrations understands it to be the “Pearl of Great Price!” It is the essence of all sensations felt as One Resonance…and that essence is felt as a fine thread of vibrations connected with a most delicious and delicate sensation of sweetness, deep in the central core of what seems to be the spine.

This sweetness creates an energetic uplift of energy in the body, especially in the spine, holding the body/mind/psyche as though electrified…and the mind and thought processes are as though locked in place by the energetic current, which allows the “Observer” aspect of consciousness to experience little gaps of “no-thought,” the Divine Moment!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part VI

Noticing, being mindful of the overall sensation/vibration of the body requires an attentiveness to the moment. Mindfulness of the moment creates a stoppage (even if only for a split second) of the “normal” current of the mind that flows subconsciously or unconsciously in its familiar, habitual patterns of thinking/feeling/sensing.

This “split second” of “no-thought” can be enough to create an opening for the body/mind/psyche to experience the underlying vibration, or “Hum of consciousness.” This need not be a “big wow!” kind of experience, but rather a simple awareness that comes with an acknowledgment of vibrations and sensations that are just underneath what you might normally pay attention to.

At this stage of noticing, it is helpful to understand that there are no insignificant sensations, as any vibration felt can be used as an entry point to the “next” underlying vibration.

At a certain point of noticing and following sensations, there can be a sense of falling into a swoon (an ecstatic trance), as the body/mind seems to hold and be held by the subtle vibration it has connected with. This process is like listening to music so beautiful that it “hurts,” or like being ecstatically absorbed and surrendered in dance!

Tuning Into the Subtlety of Sensations, Part V

What is meant by “feeling into, connecting with subtle vibration?” It can be a simple “tuning into” the overall vibration or sensation of the body. This requires an initial sitting still and being attentive to what is felt in the body, in the moment.

For many, including longtime meditators, for lack of feeling deeply and not following sensations that are so easily accessible, they cut themselves off from the ecstatically blissful currents that permeate the subtle realms!

What happens, I believe (and this was true for myself), is that the relationship with our sense of being, with emotions, feelings, etc., over the long stretch of daily life, defaults to the patterns and habits of thinking and feeling that we’ve grown accustomed to and familiar with.

And because of the familiarity and “daily-ness” of life (and meditations), it may not dawn upon us to even consider the sensations/vibrations that are subtle and just below the vibrations of what we are familiar with.

I would dare say that anyone of you who are reading these words, in this very moment, can access very fine, subtle sensations in the body…sensations that you normally would not give any serious attention to. However, for the sake of exploration and for all the new discoveries that can ensue, try this…feeling into subtle sensation and then following the sensations deeper and deeper.

Here is what usually happens: the mind (or sense of “I-ness”) resists, wanting to stay in its range of what is familiar. It may even argue: “I already know how to feel deeply, what’s the big deal? What is the benefit? Why should I do this? I already know how to meditate.” With this kind of resistance, the “exploration” does not go very deep, as the mind short-circuits any effort to even begin.

The mind also gets in the way in the sense of the ideals, expectations and preconceived notions that it has around concepts of spirituality, enlightenment, kundalini awakening, etc.

All too often, the mind/ego expects a kind of “Big Bang! Big Wow!” experience in the realms of “awakening” and “enlightenment.” These expectations and preconceived notions have a way of dampening the heart’s natural sensitivity to fine vibrations.

It just requires a simple feeling into the overall sensations of the body and tuning into what is just below the surface of what we might consider to be our “normal” sensitivity. It need not be very deep at first… just deep enough for the awareness to connect with an overall sensation that is just below what we are usually accustomed to. This is not difficult to do.

Note: In this beginning phase of feeling into subtlety, it is important to not analyze or judge the sensation or experience. Just notice and acknowledge that you DO have the ability to connect/feel into subtlety! The next step is to continue going deeper and following vibration from one point of subtlety to the next.

Cosmic Dance!

In exploring the vibrations of vocal sounds/tones, the important part is to feel the sensations that are created in the body, especially the most subtle ones. This draws the mind deeply within and engages the awareness in ways vastly different from our habitual patterns that we’ve grown familiar with.

In other words, by feeling into and attuning ourselves to the very fine and subtle vibrations (as initiated by our vocal cords), we come to realize that the human body and consciousness has infinitely fine sensitivity to vibrations and feelings that we may not have previously experienced…due in part to no inability on our parts to do so, but in the simple reason that it may not have occurred to us to even explore/attempt such an endeavor!

The process is simple: to feel and follow sensations to their point of subtlety. There is no difficulty in doing this. Any perceived difficulty may be that we’re not convinced or intrigued enough to even try this approach. It may not even occur to us to feel beyond and underneath what has become habitual and familiar in our realms of feelings. And yet…

To those who are curious enough to explore the subtle sounds and overtones of their voice, to feel and follow the fine sensations that are created, they will quickly discover very fine vibrations that draws the mind/consciousness deeply within. They will tap into gossamer threads of the finest, tinkling sensations in the spine…and the body goes into and assumes a most delicately balanced “contortion” that holds the mind as though in a silken “vice grip” of most subtle Bliss Resonance!

The body comes to feel like quicksilver, coiling, twisting, contorting…engaged in a kind of Cosmic Dance! It is all infinitely subtle and divinely ravishing!

Contortions of the Bliss Resonance, Part IV

IMG_0043

By focusing upon the subtle sensations of the body, upon the overall “Hum” that can be felt deeply within, you may notice a gentle twisting sensation that subtly “nudges” the body to move in tandem with the sensation. It feels like an activation of the body to go into a contortion…a delicate dance that is activated by the Bliss Resonance.

This contortion of the body is the current of Life Force and is like a magnet that draws the attention of the mind…and there is a delicate dance of holding certain postures (contortions) while not exhausting the body. It is a dance of holding and releasing energy.

The mind then goes deeply within, focusing upon the fine balance point of contraction, stillness and micro movement. It is important to also notice and allow the body to naturally and automatically assume the various postures and movements. For example, you may notice the sensation of the eyes and how they naturally and automatically lift upwards in the eye sockets and skull.

This all becomes an exquisitely slow dance, an engagement with wave upon wave of delicate and subtle-beyond-words sensations. It can only be felt/intuited with the deepest allowing/surrender, like enjoying the fragrance of the rose brought in by a gentle breeze!

Contortions of the Bliss Resonance, Part III

Remember that it takes a build up of the resonance/energy (in the body), felt as a bubbling up of vibrations in the spine, abdomen and heart areas. Take the time necessary to feel deeply, to listen deeply…until you feel the shift of mind to the “still point.” Understand that this “shift” need only be slight/small. The important part is to notice/feel the slight shifts and to recognize that the mind can track extremely subtle sensations and shifts of awareness.

While tracking and feeling into subtle sensations, you may become aware of how the mind can come to a still point…where there is no thinking. This can happen in a fraction of a second…allowing you an experience of the moment, unimpeded by thoughts of the past or future.

In tuning into the subtlety of vibration/sensation, you are also “touched” by the underlying “Hum” or “Om” vibration that is like a background rumbling or reverberation that can be felt in the overall vibratory field of awareness.

By feeling deeper and deeper into this underlying vibration, the mind is easily drawn into the experience of the still point…which brings on an overflowing of energy (life force), felt as pulsations of sweet, nectar-like substance moving through spine and body.
